Rapid Prototyping

In addition to using additive manufacturing for its own business, Danko Arlington has capacity to create 3-D sand molds, 3-D cores, rapid castings, thermoplastic models, prototypes, and production parts for other companies as well.

Customer’s rapid prototyping requirements are evaluated immediately upon receipt.  Price and delivery are typically quoted from CAD files including .sldprt, .igs, .stp, or .stl. We also have the resources to create CAD in Solidworks from 2-D drawings.  Usually, 3-D printing commences the same day of receiving an order with special packaging and overnight shipping available for fast delivery.

Our plant boasts in having two (2) in-house Fortus 900mc printers made by Stratasys which use Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) to create fast, reliable, and accurate parts in ABS, Ultem 9085, or high-strength Poly Carbonate (PC) plastic.

At present, Danko Arlington has the largest 3-D FDM printers and printing capacity in the Mid Atlantic region. Each machine can print within an envelope of 36” x 24” x 36” with accuracies of .0035” inches or +/-.0015 inch per inch whichever is greater.  Larger models can be printed in sections and later joined together. We also offer the ability to post finish, sand, paint, machine, plate, cast in aluminum or bronze, and/or assemble to customer requirements.

The company also has a Voxeljet VX1000-PDB 3-D printer which directly prints sand molds hereby bypassing the need for foundry tooling.  This new technology will serve customers seeking to have castings made directly from supplied CAD without the need for  pattern tooling or core boxes.
