Manufacturing capabilities
CAD & reverse engineering
Translate a drawing, a design idea or an existing component into manufacturing information. Engineering connects the digital model to tooling and production.

A connected process
Capture
Begin with drawings, digital files or physical components.
Develop
Create and refine the three-dimensional model.
Connect
Carry engineering information into tooling and production.
CAD engineering
Develop three-dimensional models from two-dimensional drawings and physical samples. Our documented software capabilities include SolidWorks and casting-simulation tools that support design and manufacturing planning.
Reverse engineering
Existing castings and worn patterns can be measured with a portable seven-axis CMM with an integrated laser scanner. Captured dimensions help define a digital model for replacement tooling or further engineering.
Technical overview
| Model inputs | 2-D drawings, existing components and worn patterns |
|---|---|
| File formats | .sldprt, .igs, .stp and .stl |
| Measurement equipment | Portable seven-axis CMM with built-in laser scanner |
| Published measuring range | 8.2 feet |
| Published accuracy | ±0.0015 inches |
| Published repeatability | ±0.0011 inches |
Equipment capacities describe the published system configuration; usable part size and achievable tolerance depend on the component and process.
